About Brian Irwin
My name is Brian Irwin. I have a great passion for health and safety and chose it for a career because I grew up seeing how a work place injury affected myself and my family. My Dad had a work place fall which resulted in permanent disabling injuries. Growing up seeing the pain and hardship my Dad went through, made me want to choose a career in the Health and Safety field. I believe in OSHA’s general duty clause: Each employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees; and shall comply with occupational safety and health standards promulgated under the Act.
I’m a graduate from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Occupational Health and Safety. I have over 22 years of industrial and construction experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field. I’m an OSHA 10 and 30 hour authorized general industry and construction outreach trainer. I’m also a certified American Heart Association CPR / AED / First Aid / BBP Instructor, an BSI Certified ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 lead auditor. Over the course of my career I worked as a Safety Compliance Officer (CSHO) for Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA). I worked as a professional Health and Safety consultant. I also worked in Health and Safety management for a variety of manufacturing industries.
